Today's Issue: Would you choose genetically modified insulin or natural insulin?

Doctors can only prescribe medicine if it is available for their patients. However in the last 20 years, the choice of insulin has been designated by the decisions of business and not the democracy of patients. The benefits and disadvantages of natural insulins versus genetically modified insulins have never been fairly evaluated. Allie voices her support for a choice in insulin. She explains the marketing used to convince doctors of the unsubstantiated superiority of genetically modified insulins.

Great blog cast and thank you for telling this gross miss information from Eli Lilly regarding Animal insulin and GE insulin. Let's have a study, let's see what the true results would be if a comparision was done between the two. I promise that most diabetics lives would be much better off with Animal insulin. Give them a call Allie but remember they will not be willing to tell you or help you in any way. I think you are right they want us sick and unhealthy so they can sell us more strips and other products. This information is so important to get out because people who have nevered experienced the long term effects of Diabetes have no idea what is really going on. Keep up the good work and thank you again for getting the word out.

Dr. Teuscher's "A Voice for Choice" pretty well demonstrates what you have reported here. Unfortunately, our arrogant doctors (and legal system) have embraced the stance that "if it doesn't happen to Americans, in America" (or at least isn't studied/reported here) . . . the information isn't valid. Isn't it a wonder of creation that human Americans are somehow "different" than their European (and other) counterparts?? Our medical leaders' arrogance is amazing, but I guess their short-sightedness does, as Glenn states, permit them to sell us more drugs, more strips, more more . . . and keep us unhealthy, enslaved, and striving toward an unattainable goal.

I had no idea about animal insulin until I started to look on the net. My doctor never told me about this. But I do no he does not believe in anything natural. I wanted to no where I can get the animal insulin. Right now I am getting my insulin free because I do not have insurance. But I am taking so much insulin now it is unbelievable. I feel I am taking more insulin like never before. I never ever had to. I have been on this new stuff for about 6 months. Plus a pill. Why can't I get the help that I need? What has happened to Doctors? They are to help us not kill us.

It's a sad commentary on the way historical information is deliberately suppressed by our medical schools. For a generation now, doctors-in-training are taught "from the Great Book of Big Pharma" that newer is better. It is my understanding that the only comparative studies (natural v. rDNA insulin) were early studies to prove the efficacy of rDNA insulinmand thus garner FDA approval. Once proven that rDNA insulin lowered blood glucose levels in a manner similar to natural insulins, no further COMPARATIVE studies were needed. The long-term safety issues encompassed a time-frame of about 6 months, with the FDA requiring follow-up studies for another 18 months, though I have been unable to find evidence that these studies were completed. Thus a generation of doctors have now been trained to offer ONLY rDNA products. Natural insulins have been labeled as "dirty" or "antiquated" . . . and withdrawn from the U.S. market.

Unfortunately, obtaining a supply of natural insulin from outside the U.S. is expensive and time-consuming. You are right--that doctors should be working to HELP us, not KILL us . . . but when you consider that they, too, are operating from a "new science" educational system, they are ill-equipped to understand or fight for our needs. (We won't get into the issue of "medicine as business" and the issues that could be forwarded regardinging doctors who are concerned first and foremost about "doing no harm" to their bottom line.)

I would encourage you to keep exploring the internet . . . and if possible, to join the fight for Freedom of Choice and the reintroduction of natural insulin products into the U.S. market. A starting point would be with your state and federal legislators. Don't expect a great deal from these "uneducated" representatives, but at the very least, if you apprise them of your concerns, they will not be able to claim "they didn't know." Another good "starting point" would be your own doctor(s). Many doctors do not want to admit that they are not all-knowing. I suspect that many will not act because if they now admit they may have been wrong, there is a liability issue. But for diabetics to do nothing only encourages maintenance of the status quo--which, as you have experienced, is sadly lacking.

I caught the above article in NewsTarget.com's newsletter and backtracked to here.

I'm not diabetic, but my wife is Type 1. I never even suspected that the synthesized insulin was inferior. It makes perfect sense now, especially with a recent education on GMO fods.

I'm still quite confused by C-petides. You'll need to dumb it down for me, as I watched your C-Petide video twice and it's still going over my head.

Thanks so much for the vlog. I've subsribed and look forward to future posts.

Thank you for the YouTube link re: "In Lies We Trust." (I went through all 16 parts). Good documentation, but sure to enlist cries of "wingnut conspiracy theories." I would like to know, though, how many "coincidences" does it take to equal one good "conspiracy?" I would say Horowitz should have coincidence-believers beginning to scratch their collective heads, wouldn't you?

    Hi Melody -
I think the more one looks the harder it is to deny that something going on that may not be as it seems.

There is an interesting web site if you go to it and scroll down you will find a section on Health and Medical. (lefthand side about half way down)

There are quite a few short video's from others that discuss health issues. I guess everyone needs to make up their own mind ?? Unfortunately the information used may not be the truth?

Check it out if you have time also many other subjects covered that may not be what seem at first glance.

Seems like the harder you look at things that they turn up differently than you first thought.
